Prof. Mari-Ann Einarsrud

Mari-Ann Einarsrud is professor in Ceramic Materials at Department of Materials Science and Engineering at NTNU Norwegian University of Science and Technology, Trondheim, Norway and Head of The Functional Materials and Materials Chemistry Research Group. She obtained a PhD in Inorganic Chemistry in 1987 from Norwegian Institute of Technology and served as post doc at The Ceramics Processing Lab at MIT

Professor Einarsrud’s main research interests concern synthesis and characterization of inorganic, nanostructured and ceramic materials including novel chemistry-based synthesis and development of an environmental-friendly aqueous chemical solution synthesis platform. This platform has been successful for, e.g., the fabrication of 1D nanostructures, textured materials, thin films, hybrid, and supramolecular materials. Her recent research activities resulted in an in situ characterization platform of great importance for preparation of property-engineered materials.

She is s the author of over 270 publications, 2 book chapters and owns 3 patents. She is a Fellow of the American Ceramic Society and has been profiled in the book by Lynette D. Madsen, “Successful Women Ceramic and Glass Scientists: 100 Inspirational Profiles”, published by Wiley. She is a member of the COST Scientific Committee, EU Horison Europe. She is the co-founder of Cerpotech AS, a spin-off company producing high-quality ceramic powders.
